The operations console just got its first update, with two design mockups of Master Systems panels recently added. When completed, the panels will provide an overview of status across Endeavour’s key environmental, spaceframe and power systems.
There have been a few exciting additions to consoles in the last couple of weeks, including updates resulting from crew feedback during tactical simulations and the first science console panel.
We've been plotting (haha) a new piece of functionality for the contacts board - a course plot display which would show the position of contacts on the board relative to the ship (as a simple schematic map).
The idea came out of the hunt sims I've been doing where I took to sketching out contacts on my tablet to get a feel for the course they might have been describing.
The slider input allows variable selection of input values for ship systems. Sliders are commonly used to allocate power and have features that reflect this.
The slider module is made up of two sliders. The primary slider is blue and displays the value of a primary variable, usually the power input to a system. This variable can be adjusted by the user to by sliding the top of the blue slider up or down.
I've just seen an article which showcases some very cool console interfaces designed for the new sci-fi show Nightflyers. Of course being sci-fi these designs don't actually have to work, just hint at underlying functionality and otherwise look cool. By comparison, the console designs for Endeavour have to actually work as well as look good.
The contact board module provides a visual reference for managing EMDAR contacts. It is linked to other EMDAR modules via intergrid, which allows targets identified on waterfall displays to be directly created as contacts.
