Scan Composition Classes

When sensor scan data is analysed the system will attempt to identify the materials or substances that compose the scanned object.

AI analysis will assign a class to each material or substance identified by the analysis, known as a composition class. This is a broad assessment of the material's nature.

Composition Classes

Current composition classes listed below in alphabetical order.

Typical state refers to the material's state (eg solid, liquid, gas, plasma) at 50 degrees centigrade.

Alloy

An ultra-dense metallic material. To acheive this level of density sophisticated combinations of base metals are required, suggesting manufacture by advanced technology.

Typical State: solid

Atmosphere

A gas typically made up of multiple elements that fills a major habitable space and is estimated to support respiration by lifeforms.

Code: Atmos

Typical State: gas

Gas

A material in gas state for which no more specific classificaion is available.

Code: Gas

Liquid

A material in liquid state for which no more specific classificaion is available.

Metal

A metallic material of insufficient density to be considered an alloy (see above).

Sub-classes

Subclasses may be listed as a condition in the material analysis.

Chitin

A compound from which the exoskeletons of crustaceans and insects is formed. Also the major component in the cellular structure of fungi.

Cellulose

Major component of the cellular structure of plant lifeforms (or materials derived from them).

Plasma

A material in plasma state for which no more specofic classificaion is available.

Vapor

Composed of a substance in a liquid or solid state that is diffused as droplets (liquids) or particles (solids) and has similar properties to a gas.

Code: Vapor

Typical State: liquid or solid

Water

Water is a commonly occurring substance.
